Co-Founder, Executive Chef
Inspired by the southern culinary genius of his mother and grandmother, and his love for gelato, which dates back to his time in Italy as an Air Force kid, Chef Russ created Sorbailee to elevate the dairy-free ice cream and gelato experience.
TIRED OF SETTLING for the “not-so-fun” treats just to avoid dairy, gluten, or other gut-wrecking ingredients? We get it — and we’ve been there.
We know you love ice cream and gelato, but unfortunately the traditional dairy-based versions aren’t loving you back and the non-dairy options you’ve had just aren’t quite hitting the spot!
We also know that according to the American College of Gastroenterology, 85% of African Americans, 15% of caucasians, and upwards of 90% of the Asian, Jewish, and Latino communities are lactose intolerant.
For these reasons, Chef Russ began studying the industry and training with Italian gelato and dairy-free chefs in the US and Italy. Since 2018, he has worked to perfect a unique version of premium, dairy-free gelato that doesn’t make you choose between your taste buds and your gut health.
